Travis Ishikawa had a pair of home runs in the Giants' 8-4, split-squad victory against the A's in Phoenix on Saturday.
Ishikawa assumed the team lead with his fourth and fifth home runs then beseeched fans not to get used to it.
"If we're relying on me to hit home runs, we're in trouble," Ishikawa said after hitting a solo shot to right against starter Trevor Cahill then hitting a three-run blow to center against Michael Wuertz. "I know the fans have been waiting for someone to hit home runs since Barry Bonds left, but that's not the kind of hitter I am."
Ishikawa hit 27 home runs last season (24 in the minors and three with San Francisco), but left-handed hitters other than Bonds should not expect a long career if they try to hit home runs there.
